Practical Advice
Popular for people who like to lift the shade up every day and have an unobstructed view, the shade stacks very tightly at the top. Some drawbacks, they are either up or down, there is no way to vary the light. Also sometimes people don’t like the amount of cording that hangs when blinds are lifted which is easily solved by adding the cordless option. Honeycombs are great with a remote control for those high up windows or over a jet-tub. Popular as Blackout shades which allows NO light in, also can be made into a top down-bottom up which allows a little more versatility.

With energy bills on the rise these are also a great shade to consider for its insulating purposes. Cellular shades are hands down the most insulating blind on the market. Don’t like verticals? Check out the honeycomb shade vertical application.

Designs
Cellular shades are popular for their modern design and versatility, with so many colors and variations to choose from.

One functional design is the day night cordless cellular shade day which allows you to have two colors in one window—usually one light color for privacy and one dark color for blackout.

It’s basically a privacy and room darkening cellular shade in one!

The innovative day night shade can also carry other kinds of combinations.  We have different fabrics and materials to choose from starting with sheer up to blackout cellular shades.

With all these options, you have the choice of how much light and heat are filtered depending on the fabric.

These window treatments accommodate your preferred stack back side.  The top down bottom up cellular shades allow you to either pull up or down depending on your preference.  You can even stack the shade in between.

If you don’t want that stack back visible, you can add a decorative valance.  The cellular shade’s unique design allows for a very small stack so you won’t see the shade peeking out.

Pleat sizes vary, too.

Small-pleated cellular shades are perfect for small openings like French or kitchen windows.  They’re also great for windows with small sill depth.

The standard cellular shade pleat size of 0.5 inches is great for all different types of windows whether large, wide, or short.

For that spectacular look on your tall windows, try the larger sized pleats.  These variants have 1.25” or 2” pleats that give onlookers a majestic view.

You can even add embellishments such as oil-rubbed bronze handles.

Cellular shades can be configured to the shape and size you want.  If you have arches on top of those doors or windows, find total covering with arched cellular shades.

Fabric patterns, designs, and textures are also available.  But even if you choose a light fabric, your privacy is ensured.

White is the usual choice for the back of the cellular shade.  This reflects heat from the outside and allows for a more uniform look.

This would be perfect for those places where the HOA’s require white window treatments visible from the outside.

On the inside, you can choose any color you prefer in any room.  You can go for the subtle or the bold.  The choice is yours.
Choosing Colors
With so many options to choose from, you’re probably feeling overwhelmed.  Let Huntington Woods Blinds help you choose the best cellular shades for your space.

The most popular choice for color are neutrals.  White, cream, or beige can go with any furniture and wall color.  You wouldn’t even have to change your blinds even if you have your walls repainted or your couch changed.

If your window trim is white, it’s also the obvious route to match it.  The white trim with the white cellular shade makes your window look larger and the whole room brighter.

Small spaces can benefit from lighter colors, as the cellular shades become your tool in opening up the room.

Cool colors such as blue and green hues add a calming, peaceful effect to spaces.  They can be great for offices, lounges, bedrooms, and nurseries.

Warm colors are earth tones.  They include reds, browns, oranges, and yellows.  These hues encourage activity and energy to any space.  Use these tones for kitchens, dining rooms, or restaurants.

If you want to divert a little from the obvious, a color that’s a little lighter than your wall can be a good solution.  Bear in mind that the light from outside the window will alter the appearance of the cellular shade, so it’s a little hard to get that exact match if that’s what you’re going for.

Going for a tint that’s within the same color family as your wall will ensure that no matter what time of day and amount of light outside, your cellular shade will blend in well.

You can also color coordinate by matching a dominant tint in the room such as the flooring or furniture.

You need only ask Huntington Woods Blinds.  Our in-house designers will be happy to help transform your space with a touch of the best cellular shades in the designs and colors you want.
Control Options
Cellular shades can have cords that have child-safety tensioners attached to the wall.  That feature prevents tangles, too.

There are also retractable cords that provide a clean look to your shades.

The most popular option right now is the lock and lift control.  These cordless cellular shades ensure no tangles nor accidents with kids.

To utilize, you simply pinch the handle and lift, then release the handle to keep it in place.  It’s practical, clean, and safe.  The same handle can be use for top down bottom up cellular shades where the bottom handle can activate the top lock for a single-swipe, complete stack back.

More and more people are now using motorization for retracting cellular shades.  This no-touch feature can use a battery pack cleverly hidden around the window.  You can also choose to have it hardwired to the room’s electrical system.

A motorized cellular shade can be operated by a remote control or by your phone’s home app.

All these designs and controls can be applied to the vertical cellular shades.  These go great with sliding doors and nano doors.

You can also combine cellular shades with some other types of window treatments.  You can have a roman shade of any design you want with a cellular shade behind it.

The possibilities are truly endless.
The Look
Cellular shades are very pleasant to the eyes.  They can fit any theme and color scheme your space may have.

You can have more professional tones in the office, or more intimate pastels at home.  You can choose rich hues to accentuate your rooms and make a bold statement.  Rest assured your custom cellular shades will work for you.

The great thing about cellular shades is that they retract well, with the stack back occupying just around 7 inches at most.  For vertical cellular shades with 2” pleats, the stack back is a foot at most.

They’re very neat and clean to look at, and don’t feel like they’re separate structures from your windows much like curtains would.
The Cellular Shade vs. Pleated Shades
The cellular shade is always mistaken for the pleated shade.  But what makes the former different from the latter is that the pleated shade is made up of only one layer of pleated fabric.  This means you can see the cord in between the pressed pleats.

The cellular shade and its honeycomb design is far more energy efficient.  And it looks neater with that cord hidden from view.
How To Clean Cellular Shades
Because of the material used in cellular shades, the product is very easy to care for.

Simply swipe a soft feather duster in between the cleats.

For more stubborn stains, take down the cellular shade and wash the part with the stain with warm water and a mild detergent.  Be careful not to wet the top of the shade.

Raise the shade fully to drain and tilt to remove the water.
